Premier and Novartis Executives Tour Vaccine Production Facilities in Charlottetown

A recent visit by Novartis president Tom Rossi and general manager Dominique Giulini to PEI is evidence of the strong relationship that has grown between the bioscience company and the people of Prince Edward Island, says Premier Robert Ghiz. During their visit, the Novartis executives provided the premier and bioscience development staff of Innovation PEI with a tour of the recently-expanded Novartis vaccine production facilities in West Royalty Industrial Park.
Functional Technologies Announces Positive Malaria Treatment Trial Results

Functional Technologies Corp., (TSX-V:FEB), parent company of PEI-based Phyterra Yeast Inc.,  in cooperation with University of Toronto Scientists, has announced promising initial results of a novel yeast-based approach for the treatment of malaria, in which the company’s yeast product neutralizes malaria parasites in mice without side effects.

UPEI licenses new technology to Nautilus Biosciences Canada

The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) recently signed a licensing agreement with PEI bioscience company Nautilus Biosciences Canada Inc. for technology to extract anti-inflammatory agents from sea coral. The deal has the potential to create millions of dollars in benefits to the University, and Nautilus Biosciences Inc.
Expansion of BioVectra to Bring Bioscience Jobs to Charlottetown

The government of PEI has announced a loan of up to $14.8 million to finance an expansion of the Island's largest bioscience company at its manufacturing facility at the Charlottetown Airport Business Park.The Expansion to the Charlottetown facilities of BioVectra Inc. will allow the company to create up to 34 new bioscience jobs in PEI, as it fulfills a multi-year contract for the manufacturing of an active pharmaceutical for the export market.
